On average, an assessment will take between 30-60 minutes but I promise I will be as quick as I can so you can get on with your day.
I will gather as much information and evidence as possible to complete the assessment. Then I'll leave you in peace and complete the calculations, lodge your EPC on the national register and send you a link.
To complete the assessment I will need to take photographs around your property as evidence of how energy efficient your property is. This will include pictures of things like your windows, boiler, loft insulation, radiators and many, many more super exciting photos that make you glad I'm not a wedding photographer 😆
I will also take lots of measurements to help with the calculations such as the length of walls and the size of windows.
There are some really useful things you can do to help me with the assessment.
Easy access to the boiler - If I can't get to the boiler then I can't complete the assessment because it's such a crucial part of how energy efficient your property is. So, if your boiler is in a cupboard hidden behind clutter and so on it would be really helpful if you could clear that in advance.
Had a loft conversion? - If you have a room in your roof then you'll likely have had a completion certificate for the work. Having this to hand as evidence can help identify inputs for the calculations that can improve the EPC score.
Access to the loft - I will want to measure and take photos of your loft insulation to help with the EPC so if you need to clear anything before I can get up there it would be great if you could do that in advance. Also, I will have ladders with me if needed.
DIY projects or had work done? - If you have photos or certificates to hand to show the work completed that will really help. The quality of insulation is really important so if you've done any work that you think will help improve the performance of your house then this sort of evidence will be key. I can only record what I can evidence and I obviously won't be making holes in your walls and ruining your great work to prove what sort of insulation you added 😀
